Each year Torsion Engineering Services recruit a number of trainees to join our business and work within the building services sector. We are currently looking for Technical Apprentices to join their operations team to assist in the design and delivery of projects. As Technical Apprentice you will attend the local College in Birmingham one day each week. Upon joining you will become part of their established team that has built up a reliable reputation within the industry. This role requires a candidate with LOTS of personal drive and ambition. It is a challenging yet highly rewarding role working with professional teams on a number of exciting high-profile projects.
The team is dynamic and passionate about the work they do and are looking for someone who can come in, roll their sleeves up, and really get stuck in! You will be assisting senior staff in the ordering, estimating, design, and subsequent managing of projects from inception to completion. You will be preparing calculations and drawings, assisting in the quoting of Air Conditioning Systems, and visiting projects you will be working on. You will be using computers (especially CAD), attending meetings, and completing paperwork daily. The long-term view is that you will eventually start to run various projects from start to finish. You must possess drive, ambition, and enthusiasm for this role. You will deal with customers face to face and on the telephone so you must possess good customer service skills and be professional at all times.

Training:
On-the-job training
EG: On-the-job training and assessment will be provided by a mixture of:
- Workplace shadowing
- Mentoring
- Periodic In house Training from an internal or external resource
- Self-learning modules and assessments eg. Health & safety tests
- Ongoing professional development reviews
- One to one tuition by various members of the team, including contracting, design, commercial, and pre-construction.
Off-the-job training and assessment
Off-the-job training will be provided by Coventry University in collaboration with the employer.
The employer will provide a minimum of 20% protected focus time (off-job training) during your apprenticeship.
You’ll study using Coventry University’s modern learning environment and be supported by their highly experienced tutors. You will have access to our comprehensive library and other fantastic student support services.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will receive a BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineer degree awarded by Coventry University, an apprenticeship certificate in Building Services Design Engineer, and be eligible to apply for IEng status via Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
Expected duration:
5 years plus an additional non-teaching year to gain IEng status.

Qualifications on entry:
Stage 1: B.Eng – Building Services Engineering (Apprenticeship)
- A Level: BBC to include Mathematics. Excludes General Studies
- BTEC: DDM to include Mathematics
- IB Diploma: 28 points to include Mathematics at Higher Level
- GSCE Requirements: 5 GSCEs at grade A*–C including English Language and Mathematics, or specified equivalents
Direct Entry to Stage 2: B.Eng – Building Services Engineering (Apprenticeship)
- Students who have completed the level 4 Building Services Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard.
- Students who have been awarded an appropriate HND or HNC in a Building engineering discipline and pass all modules with a module mark of at least 60%.
